Today the company is
owned by Daimler AG, a part of the Mercedes Benz group but automobile
manufacturing began in 1921, 12 years after Wilhelm and Carl Maybach began
working in the aircraft industry.

The company was disbanded in 1940 after a short but illustrious career
making luxury vehicles during the 1921 to 1940 period.

The company can be discussed here because in 1997, Mercedes Benz
re-introduced the brand name and has continued to market a small range of
high-end luxury models.
While some uncertainty exists over the future of the brand, its inclusion
on these pages is tenuous.
There follows a short list of the classics
from the days of Maybach Motorenbau GmbH.
The
Maybach Zeppelin was produced during the period 1928 to 1934 although no
production figures can be found.
After the Mercedes Benz revival, these old classics have found new
enthusiasm and collectors and restorers have brought many back their original
opulence.
Very few details of these cars are available in English or German.
