Initiatives At this time, work is underway garnering endorsement and support from several of the world's largest international organisations involved in the promotion of world peace. Those being approached include - World Federation of United Nations Associations (WFUNA) Rotary Peace Communities Program Global Peace Rally JCI (Junior Chamber International) Universal Peace Federation World Peace Prayer Society Words of Peace Global and several others. Rotary International has for decades, been at the forefront of international peace initiatives with its "friendship trees", "Peace Poles", "Peace Communities" and other activities which presently exist in over 100 countries world-wide. We are fortunate to have as one of our more active committee members, Mr Geoffrey B.W. Little (JP, PHF) of Sydney, Australia, who is responsible for the overall coordination of our planned peace initiatives. Mr Little is the First Special Ambassador and Dean of the Ambassadorial Chair of the Rotary Peace Communities Programme, Life Member and Vice President of the Sydney branch of the United Nations Association of Australia and Ordinary Member of Variety International. The United Nations was created in 1945 and a number of the more senior members of Rotary International were involved as advisers during its formative years. Created to represent a collective voice for all nations on earth, World Peace is one of its major areas of concentration. Other organisations are represented throughout the world with branches in many countries. We hope to cooperate with all these bodies in promoting their collective agenda with tangible and visible mementos of their efforts to promote world peace. While exact details are yet to be confirmed, we have identified a number of communities and locations suitable for expanding the awareness of all these great organisations. As agreements are confirmed, details of all projects will be listed under our section on "Route". The installation of tangible and visual peace monuments will be captured on film and posted on this and external pages. |
