Sea Eagles at Port Dickson, Malaysia
Some of the locals think they look nice, stuffed, sitting on a shelf in the lounge room.
You can actually buy them, I'm told by a local, for around RM250 (US$75) and as far as we could determine, there's no law against it.
These magnificent creatures stand over 2 feet tall and have a wing span of about 6 feet. They used to nest in an abandoned high rise development project not far from the town council offices. We think they realised that people could reach them and their eggs if they stayed there, so as far as we can tell, they are now nesting in quite large colonies, on a small island a few metres off-shore.

In the late afternoon, they can be seen flying along the shoreline searching for fish.
These beautiful birds need protection in the form of a marine park or wildlife sanctuary but the government doesn't seem to care.
We met with most of the top politicians in the state during 2009 and recommended certain plans to create a haven for them and to use it to develop a small tourist industry.
Sorry birds. Not much chance of help from these people.

We are persevering and as a result of a new alliance with another like-minded company, expect to have something happening in 2010.

We will update this page as developments occur.
